On Monday the 21st of October 2019, 4 of our scouts, 2 of our young leaders and 2 of our leaders, represented the 22nd Southgate group in the ‘A million hands’ project in The Houses of Parliament, London.
The project is about getting young people involved in helping out with topics like: Homelessness, Refugees, Climate change and our environment, Mental health and wellbeing, and promoting kindness.
Many charities were there holding activities to take part in, the charities were: Mind, WWF, crisis, Save the children, British Red Cross, and the National Autistic society. They were asked questions about all these topics and what they think they can do to help as well.
They met many famous celebrities and MPs too! Tim Peake being one of them, he was awesome. They met lots of scouting ambassadors also!
It was a truly inspirational experience and a crazy opportunity to be able to do all of this in the Houses of Parliament – speakers house!!
